The local village of Torre Pali is busy in the summer, but much quieter at other times. Also nearby are the beaches at Lido Marini, Torre Vado, Torre San Giovanni. The area is famed for its beautiful sandy beaches.
The Adriatic coast is much rockier but also well worth exploring.
Santa Maria di Leuca is about 10 KM away at the very tip of Italy's heel and you can stand on the point where Ionian meets Adriatic.
This part of Puglia is known as Salento and is a charming area full of small villages and lovely countryside - with lots of olives groves.
Slightly further away are the old towns of Gallipoli, Lecce, Otranto, Galatina and many, many more.
